2012 Annual Membership Meeting Update hosted in Snyder, Texas by Bob & Carolyn Barbee.

New update from Carolyn explaining details and requesting your help by notifying her of your intentions concerning attending, displaying and showing animals. Please help by calling her with your intentions and schedule as soon as possible.

Wanted to update you on our planned National British White Convention to be held in Snyder, Texas on June 8 and 9, 2012.

I have secured the Scurry County Coliseum Livestock Annex for the meeting. We will have access to indoor cattle pens with easy access to load and unload so I hope to have dozens of cattle to display.

I have reserved a block of rooms (#30) at the Baymont Inn and Suites. IF we have 30 rooms filled, we have a rate of $69.95, for 1 King or 2 Queen at same price. Includes breakfast plus our Chamber of Commerce will provide “extra perks” for us based on “heads in beds”!!!!

My application to the Chamber for funds must be made by the end of January and I plan to ask for at least $3000. This can be used for any promotional matter and unused funds must be returned. We qualify based on what information I can give them at that time. We can get more rooms now if need be but we expect most all of the Snyder hotels will fill up soon.

As we talked about before, Snyder is holding its annual Western Swing Festival at the Main Coliseum starting Wednesday of that week thru Saturday. (June 6, 7, 8 & 9, 2012). Swing has something for all ages and children are welcome. I will talk to the promoters to secure group discount passes to all swing events.

A full agenda of western music and dance will be held less than a block from where we will be.

If any of our member families want to attend this, I need to know to extend their room reservation.

An authentic chuck wagon meal with all the cowboy fixings is planned for Friday night so that will be something different for our folks.

Snyder’s closest airports are in Lubbock and Midland-Odessa and I am working on arrangements to pick up any of you who wish to fly in.

I want this to be the best ever convention.

We need to have a good representation of members to impress the Swing attendees who will venture over to see our wonderful cattle...WIN-WIN- eh

I will send each member a pack regarding the agenda as soon as this is made available to me.

I plan to have free caps and maybe T-shirts for members upon registration and booths and display area will also be available.

Carolyn has put a lot of work and effort into hosting this meeting and is just getting started so please give her your help.

As noted above this is not a guaranteed commitment to the hotel on your part at this time, that will come later. Carolyn just needs and advance estimate for all the detailed planning. Most all of the additional help, advertising funds etc she can get is in direct relation to how many folks will be attending. This needs to be applied for well in advance and presented in a timely manner.
